PHYTOTRON RESEARCH

A Phytotron is a research that greenhouse used for the study of plant and the atmosphere. It helps to study the environmental conditions for plant growth. It was founded by the Harry B. Earhart Foundation and was officially known as the Earhart Plant Research. The first phytotron was produced under the directions of Frist Warmolt, went California Institute of Technology in 1949.

Phytotron research spread around the world from 1945 to till now, to Australia, France, Hungary, The Soviet Union, England and The United States.

Plants are adapted easily to their natural light habitat. Therefore, artificial plant illumination requires careful design not only as per the quantity of radiation, area or volume (intensity) but also the spectral quality has to match seasonal and diurnal variations of natural global radiation as close as possible. The Phytotron Facility consists of seven closed chambers:

• 4 walk-in size chambers
• 2 Medium

1 small sun simulator
